Starting Two new orphanages in the Philippines

Hello Marc:

Here is a recent photo of the first orphanage I started helping, in Cabanatuan, Philippines. They sew their own clothes, cook, clean, grow vegetables. As you can see, things are going well with a minimal amount of financing.

Sadly, as you know, most orphanages are not like this. Nicole and Sister Marcial's home has a long way to go. I did get everyone sleeping mats, pillows, clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste  and food. Your help will buy a hundred kilos of rice, loads of vegetables and we can now add protein, like sardines, fish and chicken.

I have some exciting news for you. I met a young lady in Bacolad who used to live on the dump site or under a bridge with her siblings.  She is an amazing young lady and helps the Dominican Sisters there with helping street children. We have been working together for about 2 months now and we have set up 2 orphanages with over 200 children. Here is one of the orphanages below. I'll send another photo later of the other one. So far we (yours truly) have furnished the sisters and kids with sleeping mats and pillows, tooth brushes and toothpaste, rice, vegetables and on occasion sardines as well as school supplies. The kids are amazing and without my knowing it, went two days without food to help Uncle pay for the school supplies so that they could go to class.

Take care.

Patrick

Uttara Report on 100 Friends Activities in Dadpur Village in West Bengal India October 1, 2021

 Dear Marc,

How are you?
Sending you Works Executed for September in the month of October and shall be  sending you October Works Report in a week or so and hope you don't mind.

Visit to Dadpur Village on 01.10.2021....

According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Dadpur village is 333952. Dadpur is located in Baruipur Tehsil of South Twenty Four Parganas district in West Bengal, India. The total geographical area of village is 204.55 hectares. Dadpur has a total population of 3,688 peoples. There are about 785 houses in Dadpur village. In Dadpur village population of children with age 0-6 is 491 which makes up 13.31 % of total population of village.

Dadpur village has lower literacy rate compared to West Bengal. The dark side is that illiteracy rate of Dadpur village is 36%. Here 1344 out of total 3688 persons are illiterate. The number of occupied person of Dadpur village is 1592 however 2096 are non-working. And out of 1592 employed person 292 peoples are entirely dependent on cultivation.

I set off for Dadpur village on 01.10.2021 with an Auto laden with grocery packets comprising each of 5 kgs Rice, 5 kgs Potatoes, 3 kgs Onion, 500 gms puffed rice, 300 gms flattened rice and 150 gms jaggery for 19 families. Most houses where grocery packets were given were handed by me but some places were so water logged and slippery due to stagnant water that I asked locals to help give the food items which I had brought for the poor villagers who were living a life of complete misery with no money to buy food nor able to gather wild greens to eat their boiled rice with as fields had been absolutely water logged for days.

I bought 1.5 dozen (18pcs) biscuit packets, pens, erasers, pencils and long exercise copies for small school going children for them to practice at home and some school text books were provided to a boy studying in Class VI in an English Medium School whose online exams were knocking at the doors.

Seeing the thin, half starved people almost begging for the food packets for having not received while the others who received had tears in their eyes as it would mean a little food for them for a few days and it made me feel so wretched and helpless to see so much misery and poverty all around.

I thank "100 Friends Project" and you Marc from the core of my heart, for making it possible for me to be able to reach out to the poorest of the poor and bring a little joy and relief for a few days at least.

Total Expenses Incurred For Month of September:-
Grocery Packets (19) - Rs. 7600
School copies, pens etc - Rs. 525
School Books - Rs. 895
Plastic Carry Bags - Rs. 40
Transport - Rs. 750
Total - Rs. 9810 ($131 USD)

Marc, I am sending you more photos by WhatsApp...

In case of any clarifications please unhesitatingly let me know.

Thanks and warm regards,
Uttara

Food for the Balinese people during the pandemic

Dear Marc Gold
100 friends

We start sharing food products for some families who lost their job because of this pandemic. The package consists of rice, eggs, cooking oil, tea bags and noodles.

These are Ibu Kadek and Ni Ketut Srimpi, their sons worked at the hotel before.
But since this pandemic they lost their jobs. To survive during this situation they work a little bit in construction and farming some vegetables when there is no other work.

I hope this package can help them to survive during this pandemic situation.

Thank you again for your great help sharing during this difficult situation.

Best regards
Wayan Widnyana

Books, pens and soccer ball in Ubud, Bali - Indonesia

 Dear Marc Gold

100 Friends

Today we gave soccer balls, books and pens to the children around my village.

They started school back in the class since this monday.
They are very excited after more than a year doing study via online.
The parents also got confused how to teach them home when they didn't have an internet connection.
Now the children like get the fresh air again.

In the afternoon around 4pm they play soccer at the field.
Normally they use an inferior plastic ball, but today I bought a leather soccer ball for them.
They are very excited and they said, it not easy to play soccer now.
Of course because this is the first time for them play using leather ball.

Thank you. It become beautiful experience for them.

Best regards
Wayan Widnyana.
