This is Mr. Aouni Samir, 52, from the coastal town of Essaouira in Morocco. 

His very poor earnings as a luggage carrier for tourists to various hotels does not allow him and his wife to eat 2 meals per day.

 Last 2 years without tourists due to the covid19 restrictions have made this couple very vulnerable. His wife suffers with chronic asthma and needs medication. 

Their room rent is 80 dollars per month and they are in need of financial assistance. 100 Friends has provided them with 100 dollars to help them buy medicine and food for the coming weeks. This is such a relief to them.

Bijla is a orphan lady and she lives in a plastic tent house and she is desperate for help to look after her daily expenses.

Jomir Sardar paralyzed elderly man helped by 100 Friends in West Bengal, India March 15, 2022

As he is 60 percent paralyzed servived with the wife. There is no one to look after him and his wife. He is very happy to receive the help from 100 Friends and he wish 100 Friends to continue help him in future.

Mr. Muhammed Moarek age 70 - was homeless and cold, but not now. Thank you Max!

This is Mr. Muhammed Moarek age 70 currently homeless in Essaouira, Morocco.   He used to shelter in a garage from where he has been kicked out 2 days ago with no access to toilet and running water. He is very weak and did not shower for a good number of days. 100 friends has bought him 2 warm pants,1 jacket,1 pair of socks, 1 hat and one pair of slippers for $32.50.

We gave him $30 to buy food for the next few days while we are talking to the local councilor to find a long term solution for a shelter. 

We have then contacted ’El Hanchane Organisation which operates a home for homeless people 27 miles away from the town of Essaouira. The home director came to meet Mr Moarek to assess his situation and gave us the positive news that he could take him to the home after undergoing a general check up at the local hospital. 

100 Friends has spent an additional 100 dollars to cover ambulance cost and hospital check up. Mr Moarek is now in a safe place in the home with another 65 men and women.

Hope you’re doing well, I wanted to request you for the  help on someone’s behalf, 

I know a family in Pakistan, I met them when I went there in November.  They asked me for the support for their family. They belong to a really poor family only husband is working with very low salary which is impossible to cover all there necessary needs,

They have 4 children, 3 daughters and 1 newborn son, 

Girls are unable to go school because of unpaid school fees for 3 month, school gave them notice already. 

The father was working as a driver in a government job but the fellow colleagues started threatening him by falsely accusing them of being against Islam. 

Recently they fired him from his job. Now they have more terrible conditions, they requested us for some support, I sent them last month from our tithe.

Now we are unable to support them because my husband Shan is supporting some school projects and I’m not working so it’s almost impossible for us to assist them, 

Kindly consider them for 2,3 month support until the man gets another job. 

They told me they took some loans from the family members now they’re also asking for payback.

Newborn needs milk and diapers on daily basis and kids needs food and school fee to go back.

Asma is semi-blind and she begs in Betberia Station along with her small son. She is a widow and she survives by begging in the station. She was thrown out of her rented house as she couldn't pay her rent for the last three months. 

She was rescued by 100 Friends by paying her three months rent and brought her happiness back and she looks forward for future help so that she can look after her son and stop begging. Support given Rs. 1800 for rent ($24) and Rs. 600 ($8) for her food.

Rina Karmakar gets a wheelchair after waiting many years

Dear Marc,

Greetings of the day and hope you are doing well! 

Marc, this month I just distributed a wheelchair to a lady who has been completely bed-ridden for years. 

About 8 years ago Mrs. Rina Karmakar had started complaining about joint pain in her legs. She was taken to Baruipur Sub-Divisional Hospital where she was diagnosed of nerve problems and so they asked her to have MRI tests done. As her husband had lost his job she decided to do the tests later. 

Weeks passed into months and months into years and the patients condition rapidly deteoriated as she was unable to have her investigations conducted due to scarcity of money and now she is not able to move at all. 

She is looked after by her son's wife. The son had approached me for a wheelchair in January. As there were other urgent issues to be tackled, a wheelchair chair was bought this (March) month and given to her. 

Mrs. karmakar is very happy to have received a wheelchair which means she can move short distances by her side. 

Money alloted for March - Rs. 10,000  $130

Money spent on wheelchair - Rs. 9000  $117

Transport to Haral - Rs. 800 $10

Avci Suleyman - a Turkish man from Sile (near the Black Sea) whose house burned down January, 2022

Marc i have got the information about a man whose house has burnt down, 4.000 $ will help him to repair his house.

About your friend Avci Suleyman. I have raised $500 for him and maybe I can send another $500 (not sure about the second $500 but it is possible- I will know more next month).
